Tattoo Republiq on Creative Business with Lloyd Luna

Today’s talk at Creative Business with Lloyd Luna is a little different from the other topics that I’ve been posting. Today’s guest is Ms. Janice Garcia Factor, a tattoo supplier of Tattoo Republiq Supplies.

I’m happy selling everything” Ms. Janice said during her interview with Mr. Lloyd Luna. From this point of view I was able to see right away how dedicated she is in business, and this is her edge from her other competitors. She made it to a point where she conducted studies regarding tattoos – from the tools that the artists are using up to their corresponding prices. “It’s a continuous study”, she said because Tattoo industry also evolves. She wants to know the new tools or supplies that every tattoo artists will need to keep them updated and the new designs or art that people prefer to be inked on their skins.

During the interview, Mr. Lloyd asked some of the frequently asked questions about tattoos like “Bakit nagpapalagay ng tattoo?” Ms. Janice answered this question as tattoo has meaning, it could be memorable, it could also be a name or a portrait of the beloved person who passed away which is called “memorial tattoo” and it could also be an expression.

The host also asked “What can you say about the discrimination of tattoos?” “It started noong old fashion pa ang mga Filipino. Kasi dati kapag may tattoo ka, kung hindi ka basagulero, galing kang bilibid” but Ms. Janice cleared that tattoos are accepted by Filipinos nowadays because they can see it from other countries that they tolerate it. “Even doctors and nurses meron na.” Ms. Janice added.

Regarding the physical pain that a person who wants to go have tattoo, Ms. Janice said that there are anesthetic cream that could be injected to their skin to make the pain bearable. And about the issue that getting a tattoo is unsanitary, she answered, “before they use the same needles, ngayon kasi may disposable na. And you should buy the disposable ones because it’s a must” and “ang Department of Health may mga nire-require para siguraduhin na malinis yung ginagamit ng mga tattoo artists.

If we are planning to have a tattoo, Ms. Janice said that it is not necessary that the artist has tattoos as well. We just have to assure that the artist has legal requirements such as DTI, mayor’s permit, etc. “At kapag magpapap-tattoo ka na, dapat yung mismong needle bubuksan sa harap mo para makita mo na bago yun.

Creative Business with Lloyd Luna (May 18, 2013)

Today’s guests for Creative Business with Lloyd Luna are two married couples Mr. Lawrence Timberlake and Mrs. JC Timberlake, both owner of Praise and Letters Events.

Mr. and Mrs. Timberlake started exploring their events management skills when they handled the birthday party of their baby. Mrs. JC Timberlake became interested in events as the event that she prepared for her baby became successful. Because of this interest, she then pursued this field. She first started her business by posting and advertising
Praise and Letters Events on social networking sites.

Mr. and Mrs. Timberlake’s main purpose why they pushed through events management is because they would like help other parents, especially mothers, in handling celebrations for their kids. Mrs. Timberlake is also a full time mom that’s why she thought of this business as her sideline to earn extra income.

The show’s host, Mr. Lloyd Luna, asked what the biggest challenge in building this kind of business was, Mrs. Timberlake said that it was the marketing – how you will get your clients, how you will promote the business, how you get the attention of people and how a client won’t back out.

Mr. Timberlake also spoiled that they base the feedback of the client on their facial expressions after the event. “Sinabi ko nga sakanya (referring to his husband) “tignan mo, tignan mo kung nakangiti!””Mrs. JC jokes as she pokes her husband.

The way they handle their relationship is a reflection of how they handle their business so Mr. Luna asked the couple how they handle a tough situation and an argument, the two simply said, “We just pray.”
In building a business, sometimes all it takes is your concept and guts to go and sell that concept. Just like what Mrs. Timberlake said on the show, “Ideas create money.” It is also important that you enjoy what you are doing and make sure that everything that do comes with prayer.

Last May 10, 2013, Friday, I went to the studio of GNN to watch another inspirational story of successful businessmen and businesswomen with my co-intern.

This is one of the front doors of First Global Building. There’s the “GNN Global News Network” printed on a very classy glass door.

If you take the elevator going to 6th floor, this is what you will see – the names of three networks located at the 6th floor which are First Global Conglomerates, Inc., First United Broadcasting Corp., and Global News Network, Inc.

This is the front (glass) door of the Global News Network studio.

This is GNN’s receiving area where guests can sit, read magazines and relax.

Inside GNN office, there’s this “ON AIR” signed door going to their studio. Behind this door, that day, was the live show of Creative Business with Lloyd Luna.

Say hi to the two very handsome cameramen of the show!

This is the actual shoot of Creative business with Lloyd Luna. Mr. Lloyd Luna wearing eye glass and black jacket (right) and sitting beside him are his guests who have been very successful in the field of events management.

I had a great time watching Creative Business with Lloyd Luna live. The people are very kind and welcoming, I actually instantly became close to their cameramen! Plus the whole talk show went a lot of fun. There was this chemistry between the three guests and the host, Mr. Lloyd Luna. Creative Business with Lloyd Luna (May 3, 2013)

Last Friday, May 3, 2013,Mr. Lloyd Luna interviewed another successful business man on his show Creative Business with Lloyd Luna to inspire people in pursuing their dreams in the field of business.

Mr. Paulo Marquez, the CEO and owner of Posh Events Management, told his story behind his success. He graduated high school in Adamson University and took up BS Psychology in Colegio de San Juan de Letran. Mr. Marquez was on his 2nd year college when he decided to not finish his studies and enter the call center industry instead. He also became a club DJ and had the chance to work in a radio station.

When he was asked what was his turning point in the field of events management, Mr. Marquez said, “Nakita ko lang una ‘to sa pamangkin ko. Mukang simple. Less stress unlike call center kaya sinubukan ko na.” He also said that he was just really curious about business.

Mr. Marquez was still working in a BPO (business process outsourcing) company when he started pursuing his career in events management. He also admitted that he had a hard time doing both jobs at the same time. It even came to a point when he took his leave in the office every time he had an appointment with a client. And most of the time, he meet his clients in places near his work place so he didn’t need to be away from his office.

When Mr. Lloyd Luna asked him how his first event was, he said that he was very hands on. He also confessed that he was very perfectionist and that all he wanted was to satisfy his first client. When he saw the happiness of the parents and the debutant after the event, that was when he realized that this field was really for him.

Mr. Paulo Marquez stated, “1st impression last. Kapag maganda yung umpisa, chain reaction na yan”. He also gave an advance when it comes to clients, “When it comes to handling clients, just try to please them.”

It is true that apart from hard work and determination, one of the key to success is to really get along and have a good relationship with your client. Through this, it is not only their loyalty that you will get, you will also have them as a friend whom you can get along inside or outside your business.

And to all the people out there who has plans in pursuing business or new in this industry, let me give you this quotation from the successful CEO and owner of Posh Events Management, “It doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie, what matters is how you will handle it.”

Diverse teachings from a motivational speaker and writer

Mr. Lloyd Luna is a motivational speaker, best-selling author, corporate trainer, television talk show host, business evangelist and the author of 8 non-fictional best-selling books about career, business, and personal development.

I first heard of his name when two of my friends from college became an intern for LLOYDLUNA Communications and got to know him better through his website lloydluna.com.

Listed on his site are his portfolio, achievements, written books, clients, articles, blogs, photos (originally posted on flickr.com), and other things you’d like to know about him from his portfolio to his achievements.

I was able to read a couple of articles that are posted on his site. I learned that apart from motivations that he gives to his readers and listeners in growing in business, he also gives trivia and inspirational thoughts about love and differences of a man and a woman. Two articles that seized my attention from his website were articles entitled: Inspirational Thoughts on Men vs. Women and The Motivational Story of Henry Sy.

Inspirational Thoughts on Men is a scientific explanation on why and how men and women differ in way of thinking. The article listed 10 diversities of men and women when it comes to such as multi tasking, language, analytical skills, etc. This article proved that the problem is not really with the “understanding” but merely on how the brain functions. A man simply cannot force a woman to stand on his understanding because a woman has her own ways of understanding things. This is one of the major reasons why men and women always disagree about a lot of things.

The Motivational Story of Henry Sy on the other hand is the story behind the success of the richest man in the Philippines. I had always been curious about how Henry Sy became one of the most successful businessmen in the world when there is this rumor that he didn’t even come from a rich family. By reading this article from lloydluna.com, I was able to know that the secret behind the success of Henry Sy is his determination, his discipline and his thriftiness.

There are a lot more different interesting articles on Mr. Lloyd Luna’s website aside from these two articles that I shared. This actually proves why his books are best-selling in our country, because he does not only share life experiences and motivates people to do better, but also gives trivia and gives facts and knowledge that can improve a person
